Infection Following Gastric Band Operation

E underwent a gastric band insertion. Unfortunately, E suffered with a lot of problems thereafter to include an incisional abscess.

Months passed before an ultrasound was arranged but before any further surgery could be performed the abscess ruptured and eventually she needed to have her gastric band removed.

It only became apparent following detailed investigation that there was a man made (tubing) relating to the gastric band surgery which had dropped into E’s abdomen which had caused the pelvic infection.

As a result there was a risk that E may not be able to naturally conceive which was devastating news for E who had undergone the gastric band surgery so that she could lose weight to enable her to have a further child.

The claim was vigorously defended but eventually it was possible to reach a resolution for E who accepted an award of £25,000.00.
