Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy Following Asphyxiation
A was born in 1968. He sustained an acute near total asphyxia at the very end of his birth as a result of which he has suffered from quadriplegic cerebral palsy with learning and speech difficulties throughout his life.
His parents have devoted their lives to the care of A and were unaware of the possibility of any legal redress.
Despite A’s age, as he did not have mental capacity it was possible to pursue a claim on his behalf. The claim was defended but eventually we were able to secure a settlement for A which means that his parents have been able to purchase a suitable property and the compensation will mean that they do not have to worry about his care and other needs.
He has a financial deputy appointed by the Court of protection who will ensure that he will be well looked after.
